About This Site

I am a writer working in multiple genres. My historical novel, House Carpenter’s Daughter seeks a home. In the works are the next two volumes of Eliza Carpenter’s adventure in the Southwest, and during the Civil War. Other projects include a paean to Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried;  the adventures of a homesteader and his son in the Northwest Territories starting the late 1970s; a series of interrelated short stories about the possibilities of two high school sweethearts also set in 1970s. I write short fiction as well.

My characters take me where they want to be and introduce me to their worlds and their needs. I heed their advice. Often, I find myself trying to understand the structure of woven textiles or what temperatures are necessary to smelt iron and steel.

I will use this site to update you all on my successes and failures.

When I come across a writer, a magazine, or a site that I believe would interest others, I will provide links.
